Real Cupcakes

I have had the baking bug of late and decided to bake some cupcakes today. The main reason was to test out icing them. I could only decorate them with what I had, but next time I will get more decorations. It is my man's birthday soon so I am going to try a pirate ship for that. I made them with a lilac, pink and chocolate icing on a vanilla butter cake.
I am a bit obsessed with the Bakerella site. I want to make more of the cake pops and cute cupcake ideas on there.

Looks good enough to eat....

I think I went over board a bit with them, I made about 23.

In the Kitchen

I made some Filo Pastry triangles for dinner the other night and decided to use the left overs for something sweet for afters. I had some berries on hand and made these little birds nests with berries in the middle dusted with icing sugar. They were quite nice.

I just had to post my new tea cup and tea mug. My man got me this for Christmas and they are just too cute to be hid in a cupboard, so they are on the bench along with all my coloured goods. It is by Otogicco and you can buy it at this shop in London called Artbox which I loved when I lived there, so much cute stationary and stickers. I will be going back there when I head back to the UK in May, cant wait.

Cake Pops

I decided to try my hand at Cake Pops as the just look too cute. This was my first time at them and put them on skewers as I don't have any lolly sticks. I made them with a chocolate cake from Woolies and some Betty Crocker icing. Some are flat on top as the slid down the skewer whilst the icing was setting so I had to let the set on a tray. I wrapped them in some small plastic bags with a bow and had them at the table for my sisters birthday breakfast. Everyone loved them, but I am sure with more practice I can get them looking a bit smoother and more professional looking.

I bought this material a while ago and I have been wanting to make a cushion cover with it and I finally whipped it up when Ruby was asleep the other day. I just love bird designs.

Happy New Year

Well I hoped everyone had a great new year! I didn't do much due to baby but that's ok, I always think that's its a bit of a let down because you think you are meant to have fun because you are bringing a new year in and I find it is too much pressure. So we drank Champagne and watched the Gosford 9pm fireworks from Ruby's room. (Living life on the edge)

But a new year brings resolutions, mine is to pull my finger out and do a craft stall and maybe start selling my creations on "Made it" or "Etsy", and maybe not get pregnant! Another one, but it more of a necessity is to get Ruby to drink from a bottle. It is not as easy as it seems, but I am trying every day. I really want her to as we have some gigs coming up and we want to slowly get some of us time back. We have Sufjan Stevens this month at t he Opera House, and then Laneway at the beginning of next month. So you could see why I am wanting her to like the bottle, also i have my Bridesmaid dress and it not breast feeding friendly, let me tell you.

Here are a couple of my new little projects.

This is a name cloud in Ruby's Room with some little owls living in the clouds. Her room is almost all hand made which I love.

These are my Russian dolls I have been working on for a little while. I made one first for Ruby and then began to make more when I got my own sewing machine. I am working on more to sell with some more colours and patterns.

I make a lot of strawberries with felt and thought I would give it a go with material. I think it worked well and I am working on making some other food stuffs with material and not just felt.
I am working on more nappy Purses and some other little ideas I have had to build up a supply to sell. So keep on sewing I will try, and I hope others have made some hand made new years resolutions.
