More Cushions

I made another triangle cushion this time as a gift for my brother. I love this one way more than the other one I made here. I made the triangles bigger and didn't need a border. I am so into geometric designs at the moment, I am making more for my lounge now. 

I also bought him the Smith Journal from Frankie, I wrapped it in this cool wood paper.

Things for Ruby

I went to one of my local op shops on Monday and found a toy bassinet for $3 and a small side table for $5. I was thrilled, the bassinet was in the basket box I had to do some maneuvering to get to it but I am glad I did. When home after a good scrub I made a table cloth from an old sheet I found then I sewed an old doilie in the middle. Ruby is in love with it, as we have a 2 story place most of her toys are down stairs. But I am wanting to make her room more of a place for her to play when I am sewing. So this was a great addition to her room, and perfect for her tea sets.

 I made a mattress, sheet and pillow for the bassinet from thrifted material

 This is my old cabbage patch kid, she is getting loved all over again.

My sewing projects are now getting a good work out now.

I have found a new Blog that I am a bit obsessed with its Nana Company and she makes the most amazing little quilts, and they're all hand quilted. So I gave it a go and was quite excited about how the hand quilting turned out. I have to admit I do love hand sewing and I enjoyed doing it and I was happy with the results. I made it for my Mother in law in the UK for Mothers Day, and it got there in time which is a first for us.

 I used a mixture of florals from my stash, and some grey to frame it. I thought it could be used as a table runner or put a bowl of fruit on it. I want to make one for Ruby's dolls now.

Owl Beanie number 2

I was a bit quiet last week in Blog land. I have been busy, mainly with cleaning the house for a house inspection tomorrow. I also made another owl beanie for Ruby, I made one the other week here that was a bit small. This one fits but it is a bit big, I cant win at least she has some growing room now. I made this one in purple instead but it is the same colours for the face.

I am in the middle of making a scarf for myself, big and chunky it keeps my hands busy when in front of the telly at night. I am finding it very calming.

A new hat

I finally made the hat from Sew La Tea Do. I went through my stash and found some lovely material for this cute reversible hat. Ruby really loves it and it has good face coverage from the sun.

Here are the two sides of the hat, both ways look good.

Remember that girl group "Girlfriend" in the early 90's, remember the hats they wore, this is who Ruby reminds me of when she wears it like this.

Sweet (she also has on a Ruby necklace which I made from some beads found at a cheapo shop.

Yet another cheap top

The other week when I went up to Maitland to visit my lovely friend and her new baby, I couldn't help but go to some of the op shops up there. I got a couple of things, I found this floral knit fabric for $2 and knew I wanted to make it into a t shirt.

 All I did was trace around another t shirt I had and sewed it together. I only sewed around the neck line, I couldn't be bothered with the sleeves and hem as the knit fabric wont fray.

 My Mum knitted this coat hanger for me, it has knitted bunting. It is perfect for hanging shear tops and dresses.

I also found these beads for $2, they were a different necklace. I just put them randomly on some leather, I love coloured wooden beads they remind me of my childhood.

Crochet Owl Beanie

Friday was one of those days which you love, it was fantastic as Ruby decided she was going to do some mega sleeps throughout the day. The morning sleep was 3 hours and the afternoon sleep was 2 and a half hours. And then she slept all night, so I did lots of things. I found a pattern here, I used it for the beanie and as the pattern is for a monkey, I made the owl face up myself. The pattern was quite easy to follow and I did the size for a child. Now the problem I had was it was too small for Ruby, maybe it was because I used cotton. So this is now for my soon to be niece or nephew. And I will be getting busy with one for Rubes, I love the cotton so I might increase the pattern more so it will fit her.

 I tried to make it unisex, I love how the colours work though.

I made this cushion cover during one of the sleeps, I am in love with it. I am so into geometric patterns and love the bold colours, as opposed to my cute patterned fabrics. I am going to make more for my lounge as I am sick of the old ones. I hope everyone had a fab weekend.
